Loretta and her husband Lynn were married in 1957 and have 3 children, David, Karen and Gary. All of their children are married and Loretta and Lynn have 7 grandchildren, ranging in age from 3 to 19. After graduation from SHS, Loretta joined her husband who was in the Air Force until he was sent overseas. She worked in the office of Sears Roebuck & Co. and then became a stay-at-home mom until the children were in school. She went to work in the office at Culligan Water Conditioning on election day, 1972 and is still employed there as manager. She is looking forward to retirement and having more time to travel.

She is married to Larry Scott, a pastor, and they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Larry served as an army chaplin at several bases in the US as well as Okinawa, Thailand, Vietnam, and Italy. Carolyn and the children were with him except for Vietnam and Thailand. They are currently enjoying retirement.

Bob and his family left Shelbyville in 1967. They operated a grocery story in Markland, IN, for eight years. Bob then joined the Vevay Police Dept. after attending the police academy in Plainfield. He retired as a captain after 17 years. He had a 5-way bypass a few weeks ago and a pacemaker put in. Bob has 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Life has been good to me, much more than I deserve.

Wayne is still working as an auto technician and has been for 42 years. He has been certified with ASE since 1972 and holds Advanced Engine Performance Certification. He has lived in the Stuart area since 1979. He has one son, Scott, (from his first marriage to Sharon Beckley) who has 2 daughters and lives in Olympia, Washington. He has 2 sons and one daughter with his second wife, Barbara. Wayne, the oldest has 3 sons, William is in the Marine Corps at Camp Lejune, and Debbie had a daughter on December 7. Wayne is a pretty happy granddad. Wayne used to do a lot of fishing, but now plays a lot of golf and works out. Barbara works as a bookkeeper. As Wayne says, "Too bad you have to sleep, it takes up a lot of fun time."

Dan graduated from Purdue with a BS in Chemical
Engineering and received an MBA from IU in 1969 by going to night school while working for Lilly and helping Betty raise 3 children. "This cured me of going to school. I burned all my books and never entered another classroom." He met Betty in Alabama while he was In the Army and they were married 4 months later. They celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. They have 4 children - David, Melanie, Cindy and Elizabeth and 5 grandchildren. Dan worked for Eli Lilly and Co. for 35 years, retiring in December, 1998. During the last 10 years he was Manager of Property Loss Prevention and Control. This involved coordinating fire protection and loss control measures at approximately 45 US and International locations, which involved frequent travel. In spite of Dan's having 3 spinal surgeries, they have traveled to Greece, Ireland and Alaska. They have a small place on Sweetwater Lake in Brown County, which they enjoy.

City High School. They have 2 sons who are both married:
Henry who is also an optometrist and Jay who works for
Fed Ex. All 4 members of the family are IU graduates.
Jon and Nancy have two grandchildren. Jon belongs to the
Yacht Club, Miata Club, Rotary and the Methodist Church.
He also enjoys woodworking. He and Nancy have traveled
to 48 of the 50 states. Some of their favorite destinations
are the Kyes, Nantucket, Catalina Island and Victoria, B.C.

After graduation, Nancy worked for Link-Belt and in 1962 started working at the Local Grain Company. She married Neal Kuhn in 1960 and they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. She is a member of a local Extension Club and has served on many local and district committees. Nancy received the County Extension Recognition Award in 1994 for service to the Extension Program and community activities. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Indiana Association of County and District Fairs for her work with county and state fairs and community activities. She has received many awards for her sewing projects including a Sweepstakes prize. Neal has served as president of the Indiana State Fair for two years where they met many famous people. They operate a 440 acre farm which has been in Neal's family for more than 150 years. They have started spending 3 winter months in Florida and are enjoying it very much.

After graduation, they were married August 9,1957. Garnet worked at Chambers Aircraft and Luann worked at Link-Belt. Garnet went to work at Eli Lilly in 1968 and worked there for 25 years, retiring In 1993. Luann worked for about 10 years in the Rush County School system retiring after their son, Mark graduated. In addition to Mark, they have a daughter, Deborah. Both children are married and Garnet and Luann have 6 grandchildren, 2 of which are in college and the youngest is in 8th grade. Garnet enjoys keeping their 32 acre farm in shape, and Luann enjoys woodworking and keeping up with the kids and grandkids. They both enjoy camping and short trips. They have traveled most of the US and some in Canada. "We have had a wonderful life together."

After waving good-bye every morning, Marilynn decided he was having too much fun, so she retired from Texas A&M University. They love to travel, having been to France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. They love traveling In the US, too. They have a few states left, but hope to remedy that soon. Between them, they have 5 kids, 4 grandkids, and one great granddaughter. They like having company and have plenty of extra rooms and would love to have us all stop in! (Y'aII come!) John just retired from Bechtel Corporation after 35 years. He and Jan (an RN) now reside in Brevard, NC, a mountain community which offers the outdoors four-season life-style they enjoy. Before meeting Jan, John lived and worked in Europe and the Far East with interim stops in California and Hawaii. He and Jan have 3 children, two of whom are adopted (Korean) and two grandchildren with another on the way. Some of highlights of his life are living and working in some of the most scenic areas In the US and meeting the challenges of instant parenthood with 3 children arriving in a five-month period. (See John for details) John and Jan plan to spend time with family and friends, travel, catch up on books-to-be-read and any other adventures that might arise. "When I look back at what I have done and where I have been, I am truly amazed...l am also surprised that I am still alive to have the memories."

Dora joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC's) in 1958. She met her first husband, Robert, while stationed in Washington, DC, and they were married in 1959. Robert died in 1960. Dora was 6 months pregnant at the time and gave birth to a daughter in October, 1960. In 1962, she went to work at Ft. Harrison in the Finance Center as a file clerk and shortly after became a secretary for a branch chief. She met Max there, and they were married in 1964 and have a son. She returned to work progress in to GS-11 Claims Examiner. Both she and Max have battled cancer. They have traveled to Alaska and Hawaii. Dora keeps busy with church and Eastern Star and enjoys quilting, crafts, crocheting and spending time with her foster grandchildren.

Ron and Alice very much enjoyed the last reunion in 1997, which they had hurried back from a Canadian fishing trip to attend. They had a wonderful evening and Alice is glad that they had been able to attend. In April, 1968, Ron died of a heart attack in his sleep. Alice and her family miss him greatly. Ron taught English and American Studies at Miami University in Oxford. He was much loved by his colleagues and students. Alice and Ron were married for 36 years and have a son, Brad, and a daughter, Alison. Alice retired from her work as an administrative secretary at the Miami University Art Museum, after 21 years. One very bright spot is her first grandchild, Ronald Eric Kettler who is very bright as well as beautiful. "Since this is the 45th reunion, I guess that makes most of you about the same age as me. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I do not like the label 'senior citizen."'

Linda moved to Bloomington in the early 60's. She is divorced with 2 daughters, both of whom are married. Linda has 3 grandchildren with one more expected in December. She has worked in the Athletic Department at IU since 1976, first in the Football Office and now in the Business Department as an Accounting Associate. She has no immediate plans to retire, but probably in 2004-05. She presently has a home in Bloomington, but is building a new home in the country close to one daughter so that she'll have someone to "watch over me in my old age." After a bout with throat cancer 5 years ago, she is in pretty good health. She enjoys walking, working out in the weight room, read and take golf lessons.

Douglas served in the air force after high school before getting a medical discharge because of knee problems. He then worked for the State of Indiana where he met and 4 months later married his wife of 41 years, Marie. Marie is an artist and a devoted grandmother. All of his working years has been spent in the parts business: automotive, tractor, utility and plumbing. They have 2 wonderful adopted children, Lloyd and Ginny, and 5 wonderful grandchildren. Douglas has been an avid collector of military items, baseball items and coins. Despite some health problems in recent years, he is able to do a lot of things and enjoy his grandchildren.

Joann spent one year at Waldron High School and 3 at SHS. She married in 1958, had one child, Brenda, and was divorced in 1960. She was married to Phil Ragsdale for 38 years until his death from lung cancer last year. They had 2 children, Brad and Barbie, and Joann has 5 lovely grandchildren who all live in Shelby County. After high school, she worked as a dispatchers at the Shelby County Sheriff's Dept and then went to the County Clerk's Office. After time as a stay-at-home mom, she returned to the clerk's office in 1989. She was elected Addison Township Assessor in November, 1998. She plans to retire in December of this year.

Marcia and Bob moved to Arizona City in 1998 after Bob retired from PepsiCo as a truck driver. Prior to moving, Marcia worked for Blue River Special Education In Shelbyville for 21 years and then 5 years for the Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Department They have 5 children, 2 in Indiana, 2 in Texas and I in Phoenix, seven grandchildren and I great-grandchild. Marcia and Bob enjoy traveling and bowling. They travel to the bowling nationals every year and usually end up in Shelbyville.

Joe also served in the Navy from 1961-65 aboard the USS Los Angeles and the USS ST. Paul. He has stayed active with music and has played organ for churches here in Indiana as well as in Los Gatos, CA and Atlanta, GA. Joe enjoys travel, hiking and lawn work.

After graduation, Steve attended the University of Dayton and Judy worked as a customer relations representative for Indiana Bell Telephone. They were married on September 1, 1962, then left for Germany where Steve served with the US Army for 2 years. Their first son was born there. They returned to Indianapolis where their second son was born. Steve worked for Indiana Bell for 2 years and then joined in partnership with his father and brother at Hoosier Plumbing and Heating. Judy joined the company when Steve's mother retired. They were offered a chance to return to Germany in 1984 where they both worked for the Department of Defense, Steve as an engineer and Judy as an accounting technician. They lived in Europe for 14 years, returning in 1998. They are now living in North Caroline where Steve is Director of Utilities at Camp Lejeune Marine Base. They plan to retire in 2 years to do some full-time R-Ving and seeing more of their 3 grandkids.

Ann and Dale have 2 grandsons who are the delights of their lives. They are thinking about retirement, but have no immediate plans. "We both still feel great and love what we do. We are so LUCKY!"

Gary golfs, baby-sits, swims, baby-sits, golfs, baby-sits, and swims, etc.etc. Nancy cooks, baby-sits, shops, baby-sits, cleans, baby-sits, etc. etc. "Lucky for our sons and their wives, we love to baby-sit. This is a great time of life if we can just keep kicking for while.'

After high school, Pat went to Ball State and became a RN in 1960 and married Ron that same year. She and Ron have lived in Pew for forty-two years where Ron has taught at the local high school. They have two daughters: Kathleen who is a journalist and has two sons, and Suzanne who us a market analyst with American Express and lives in Manhattan. Pat is now retired. She worked periodically as a psychiatric nurse and did some hospital work, but she was primarily a nurse in a doctor's clinic. Her hobbies and interests are "typical of other little old ladies, I guess.' She enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, and keeping an eye on the neighbors. "I must admit that becoming a mother and now grandmother has brought me the greatest joy.'

Barbara worked in the Shelbyville Central School System for over 20 years. She is the mother of twin sons, Michael and Timothy who both moved to Maryland in the mid-80's. Barbara moved there in 1989, prompted by the birth of her first granddaughter, Kathleen. Barbara took care of her for her first 3 1/2 years. After a short stint at Wal-Mart, she began taking care of a neighbor's children. She loves living in Maryland with so much history all around and taking care of her little ones. She loves gardening, crafts (cross-stitch, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting) and reading. She is planning to make her 3rd trip to Hawaii in 2004. Her mother still lives in Shelbyville, so she tries to get back to Indiana once a year or so.

Jim and Pat retired in June, 2000, from Valparaiso High School 2 after 27 and 26 years respectively. Jim had taught 10 years in
Shelbyville, then 2 as a counselor at Waldron before going to Valparaiso as assistant principal. They moved to Camby after retirement and built a new home in Heartland Crossing. They have two children, three grandchildren and one on the way. Jim had open-heart surgery in December after a heart attack while visiting in Shelbyville. He had physical rehab and now exercises daily. "The doctors thought it was a miracle that they discovered the problem when they did; usually it is determined in an autopsy." He served on the Valparaiso Plan Commission for 12 years and on the Valparaiso BSA for 17 years. He and Pat enjoying serving as lay ministers in their church. He and Pat have been married 42 years. They enjoy retirement and spend time reading the books they never got read while working. They plan to travel as much as they can.

Dave got out of school as a mid-term graduate in February, 1957, and started to work at Tippecanoe Press, Inc. a local printing shop. The owner let him have two weeks vacation so that he could come back and graduate with his class. He was married in 1959 to Katherine McIntyre of Hope. On their honeymoon they drove to Seattle, Hollywood and the Grand Canyon. They just celebrated their 43rd anniversary. They have 5 children, 2 girls and 3 boys, and six grandchildren, 4 boys and 2 girls. Dave served 10 years in the Indiana National Guard and achieved the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. They bought a campground in 1983 and they still own and run it today. Dave retired from Tippecanoe Press in 1995 after 38 years. He and Katherine have take several cruises to the Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands and Alaska. Their next cruise will probably be the Panama Canal. They serve on a committee with the St. Joseph social club that schedules bus trips, mostly for senior citizens. Dave enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, boating and bowling. He and his wife like to square dance and line dance, and they are president of the local Luv Bugs Square Dance Club. They also help teach square and line dancing. "We don't do very much, but we have fun doing it!"

Linda retired a year ago from nursing after 41 years. She does volunteer work for the elementary school and the hospital. She helps her daughter who lives down the street with her 3 children, and her son in Indianapolis who has one child. She is trying' to decide whether to sell her house and move into an apartment. In February, she spent time with Marilynn Brooks White and her husband while on a trip to Houston to visit her brother.

She had worked as a nurse's aide and as a maid at the Camelot Inn. She now has 5 grandsons and one great-grandson. She lives in a nice apartment with 3 other women.

Joan lives in a Chicago suburb. She has a condominium in a pretty area with lots of grass and pathways to walk. She has close friends and is active in a Unitarian Universalist Church and in a singles group called AMUUSE. It is a unique kind of singles group; it covers the whole Midwest and is the only camp like it in the country. Joan is a private tutor and has her own business. She works with kids and adults who have dyslexia. She taught in the public schools for many years in different areas including San Diego, CA, Evanston, IL and Milwaukee. Joan has remained single and has a black toy poodle named Angie. She is open to visits, so come by or call. "I do get to play, have fun, be silly, too and dance once in awhile - jitterbug is still my favorite."

Ima Fern and her husband, William, will celebrate then 45th anniversary in August. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. William made a career of the Air Force which resulted in their living in such diverse places as Fairbanks, Alaska; Austin and Ft. Worth, Texas; Colorado Springs, Wiesbaden, Germany; Oahu, Hawaii; Columbia, South Carolina; Peru, Indiana; and Newport News, Virginia which has been their home for over 21 years. Most of lma's employment was as a secretary, and both she and William are retired. Her hobbies include camping, hiking, reading, cake decorating and basketball. Ma has always been a "Golden Bear," but one of her sons has renamed her the "Molded Bear' especially when she beats him at basketball!

Dave attended and graduated from Rose Polytechnic along with Jerry Heiniger, Bob Amos and Jon Ed Stiles. He married Janet Rosier in 1969 and they raised 4 children whose ages now range from 17 to 31. The 3 oldest are married and Dave and Janet have 6 grandchildren. Dave spent most of his career working for Indiana Bell and the Bell system in New Jersey, New York and Indiana. After retiring from Bell, he spent another 10 years working in Alabama (Boeing) and North Carolina (MCI). He and Jan retired in 2000 and built a retirement home on a small lake near South Bend. They traveled to Hawaii last spring, Cancun next month and Europe next summer. They are in good health, and spend lost of time working for their church and tending their garden and yard. Dave enjoys fishing, woodworking and various electronic and computer activities. He would enjoy hearing from any classmates.
